Art collecting for pleasure or investment is incredibly rewarding, but making sense of the contemporary art market can be a challenge. We help you to select and invest in high quality works by artists that meet the essential criteria of originality, integrity and a sustained commitment to their practice, by sharing years of experience and our network of trusted contacts.
In particular, we specialise in offering advance access to exemplary works of art from emerging and established artists and respected galleries. We also work with fine art organisations and foundations, sourcing and negotiating the acquisition of key artworks on our clients’ behalf.
Mercedes Smith
Director
The Quiet Collector founder Mercedes Smith is a specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art. She is a graduate of University College Falmouth and has a BA Hons in Contemporary Visual Arts and a Master’s Degree in 20th Century Art Histories and Theories.
Mercedes previously worked for the Tate Gallery, and for the last fifteen years she has been Director of Fine Art Communications, which supports and champions Contemporary British art and craft. Most importantly, she is a devoted art collector herself, with a particular love of Raku fired ceramics and Mid Century and Contemporary Abstract painting.
